Multitasking in Split View and Slide Over Mode

On your iPad, you can use multitasking to work with two apps at the same time. Pins supports both Split View and Slide Over mode.

Using Pins in Split View Mode

You can use Split View with iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation and later), iPad Air 2 and later, or iPad mini 4 and later.

  1. Open an app
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock
  3. On the Dock, touch and hold the second app that you want to open, then drag it off the dock to the left or right edge of the screen

You can either open Pins first or launch it from the Dock as the second app.

By default, when you view a bookmark, the in-app browser will be used to show that bookmark. You can open Settings and change the Bookmark Viewer for Split View mode option to other installed browser.

Recommendation: Set this to the other app you’re using in the Split View mode with Pins.

Using Pins in Slide Over Mode

Pins works great as the Slide Over app.

You can use Slide Over with iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation and later), iPad Air 2 and later, or iPad mini 4 and later.

  1. Open an app
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock
  3. On the Dock, touch and hold the Pins icon, then drag it to the screen

By default, when you view a bookmark, the in-app browser will be used to show that bookmark. You can open Settings and change the Bookmark Viewer for Slide Over mode option to other installed browser.

Recommendation: Set this to your default web browser.
